On social media, Fernando Veronezi spoke about the tragedy that caused the death of eight people in SC.
On the morning of last Saturday (21), in Praia Grande, Santa Catarina, a terrible accident involving a free-flying balloon mobilized the authorities and the local community. Among the survivors, motocross rider Fernando Veronezi was one of those who managed to jump from the burning balloon during the descent.
On his social media, Fernando described the moment as a terrifying experience, highlighting his luck in being able to escape in time. In addition to him, 12 other people who jumped from the balloon managed to escape alive.

“It was a great deliverance. We are fine! God is more in our lives. The balloon caught fire on the way up and then came down. I was lucky to get out in time. It all happened so fast, it was horrible,” the survivor reported on social media, when he published a post shortly after the tragedy.

Before the accident, Fernando had shared a video showing the balloon being inflated, demonstrating his excitement about the ride. A few hours later, he updated his followers to inform them that, despite the balloon falling, he was fine.
Accident remains under investigation
The tragedy also left fatalities, with the deaths of eight people confirmed, four of whom were found burned inside the basket and the other four had injuries and burns resulting from the fall, according to information from the Scientific Police. The investigation revealed that the fire extinguisher used in the balloon did not work, a fact that was confirmed by another survivor and by Chief Ulisses Gabriel, from the Civil Police of Santa Catarina. The authorities are awaiting the results of the autopsy reports of the fatal victims, as well as examinations of the survivors, in an attempt to understand the causes of the fire and possible failures in the safety equipment. The on-site expert examination will also be essential to clarify the circumstances that led to the accident.
