One January morning, an employee arrived at work to find a cow tied with a rope to a bush outside the SPCA of Louisiana. The little puppy was startled when the nuns first greeted him and did not seem to understand what was happening.
NeNe Lewis of the Louisiana SPCA told The Dodo that he was “relatively nervous” and “will grumble when meeting new people.” When he was given candy, he would stop, and people would “kid talk to him.” He was found chained to our fence, so his response is understandable.
As time passed, Kao began to feel comfortable with his presence in the sanctuary. The staff had been desperately trying to find him the perfect new family for the past two months, but they couldn’t find anything better than the family he left behind.

When the monks found the cow in March, his family was searching for him. They were thrilled to find out that he had gotten help after he was said to have been kidnapped from them and ended up in the sanctuary.
Kao was friendly and outgoing with everyone, but when he saw his mother again, he felt happier than anything anyone had ever seen from him before.
“The cow was excited to see her family,” according to Lewis. We had no idea what awaited us, so he was jumping off ledges and wagging his tail. He reacted in a certain way when he saw his mother, which showed that he was happy to have her back with them.
The cow ran into her mother’s arms and melted into a ball of jiggles and hugs as soon as she saw her. No one had any reason to doubt Cao’s return with his family.
The cow had been separated from her family for months, but when he finally met them, it seemed as if no time had passed. After some time, he becomes comfortable with them at home and is thrilled to be back.
