Beyoncé has achieved a historic milestone by securing her first Grammy Award as a country artist.

She took home the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Miley Cyrus on the song II Most Wanted.

This win was announced during the Grammys’ Premiere Ceremony. Following the album’s snub at the CMA’s this year, Cowboy Carter received an impressive 11 Grammy nominations, making Beyoncé the most nominated artist of the night.

Her nominations include the prestigious Album of the Year and Best Country Album, which will be revealed during the televised ceremony.

This recognition comes just a day after Beyoncé announced on Instagram that she will be taking her genre-bending album Cowboy Carter on tour this year.

Cowboy Carter is a unique blend of Americana and country music, infused with various southern subgenres.

“This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t,” she shared on Instagram, reflecting on her chilly reception during her performance of Daddy Lessons alongside The Chicks at the 2016 Country Music Association Awards.

As a Houston native, Beyoncé becomes the first Black woman to win a Country Grammy in 50 years, following in the footsteps of The Pointer Sisters, who won Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group for their song Fairytale.

Beyoncé received 11 nominations, four of which were in the Country music categories.

She was nominated for Best Country Solo Performance for her song “16 Carriages,” but lost to Chris Stapleton. Her single “Texas Hold ‘Em” was also up for Best Country Song, but Kacey Musgraves took home the award.

Despite not winning in all categories, Beyoncé remains the most-nominated artist in history. The “Ya Ya” singer had planned to announce her Cowboy Carter tour weeks ago, but delayed due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.

In an Instagram post, she wrote: “The January 14th announcement will be postponed to a later date due to the devastation caused by the ongoing wildfires around areas of Los Angeles.

“I continue to pray for healing and rebuilding for the families suffering from trauma and loss.”
